READY FOR STUFF THIS!

I finished my monster for Stuff This! last night.
This guy measures 16"h x 10"w. He's made of fleece and felt.

Stuff This! has asked artists to great one medium sized piece and one small plush ornament. So this sad ice cream guy is my ornament. He measures 5"h x 4"w and is made of fleece and felt.

READY TO WORK

Well my two month hiatus from working on my plush is over. It was a nice break and I had a blast working on all of our Halloween stuff. I also managed to get some holiday gift making out of the way. So I'm back and already have quite a few projects lined up. I got an email from Rivet Gallery on Monday to participate in their plush show Stuff This! It was nice being invited. I did this doodle the other day. I don't have a lot of time to work on him so I've got to get going. Haven't done any monsters in a really long time so that's what I'm doing. I've also got a commission piece that I'm working on that will be due before the end of December. So I'll be working on that too. Also Luv-able & Hug-able is coming up and I'll post what I've sent them.
Busy busy!

PORTFOLIO PAGE

I am in the process of scrapping my current website and combining my blog and website into one using Wordpress. I'd love to have everything in one spot. I've been using an ancient version of Dreamweaver and as a result I am really bad about updating my website. So by the end of the day today my website will be under construction. So for now to view my portfolio click on the button to the right.
Wish me luck on trying to figure out Wordpress.

WITCHES HAT

I've been searching for a really good looking Witch hat for a while now. I found nothing that was reasonably priced and all were made poorly. So I decided to make one.

I used acrylic felt that I happened to have. Next time I'll use better material. Wool would have been nicer. I doubled up the felt as well as added a heavy interfacing between the layers. Then I decided the use my free hand embroidery foot to sew the squiggly lines all over. This, along with the interfacing, helped give it some stiffness. I wrapped tulle around the base and stitched it in place. Then I tucked black feathers under the tulle and stitched them down. In the back I pulled up one of the pieces of tulle, gathered it and sewed it in place. Then I added the crystal button.

THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS

Here's what we look like with our costumes. My daughter looks great and I can't believe she left the crown on. I on the other hand felt silly the whole time. And no, that's not my hair.

HALLOWEEN INSIDE

I finished putting up our Halloween decorations. There is actually more but I only decorated the foyer because our toddler can't get to it. Maybe next year we can add the rest.
Made this two years ago. It was actually supposed to go on the outside of the door but when I got done and hung it I couldn't shut the screen door. Doh!
I finally bought the Martha Stewart paper mice. I was going to cut them out myself but found these 40% off at Michaels.
Our Haunted Memories portraits went up four years ago for Halloween and never came down. Most people think they are just more of our family portraits like we have going up the steps. It's fun seeing peoples reactions. That's why we've left them up all year long. These linticular images are by far the best ones out there!
You can kind of see the spooky side of them in this pic.
Black feather wreath with a crow. Added the bows.
Pumpkins from Hallmark over a two year period. The owl I found at an antique mall five years ago.

CROWN

Finished adding the details to daughter's crown. I just need to add some elastic for a strap. Now here's hoping she keeps it on her head. We might have to do some practicing before we get our pictures take.

QUEEN OF HEARTS

I had a very productive weekend. I finished my daughter's Halloween costume today also. All I have to do is add the zipper. I'm waiting till we go to have pictures taken before I add it. My luck I'd put it in and in the next 4 weeks she'd go through some crazy growth spurt.

I used Simplicity pattern 4024 and used the Glenda the Good Witch pattern. There is no pattern in a toddler size for Queen of Hearts so I just made it up. The hardest part was figuring out the cutaway opening that shows the black and yellow stripes. Piecing this together was also time consuming. It's actually sewn into the side seems, so it's not really a skirt on top of another skirt. I also made a black tulle skirt for underneath that fills out the skirt.
Cant's wait for Halloween.

CHOCOLATE & SUGAR COOKIES

DING. Cookies are done. Sugar cookies measure 2 1/4" across and the chocolate cookies measure 3" across. For now this is the last of the felt food. Need to get back to Halloween stuff.

ANOTHER BATCH OF TASTEY

Here's my latest batch of stuffed food for my daughter for xmas. We'll be starting the kitchen stove and sink pretty soon. Just ordered a stainless steel 10"x12" steam table pan that will be the sink. Can't wait to get it. That kind of determines the size and placement of everything.

So I pretty much have breakfast, lunch, and dinner covered. I've also got a pile of veggies and a pile of fruit. I think I'm pretty much done. I do plan on making some cookies and make a cookie sheet out of thin ply wood painted silver. I thought the cookies would go great with the little tea set she'll be getting for xmas.

Sandwich with 2 slices of bread, lettuce (2), slice of cheese, 2 tomatoes, and what I'm calling salami or mystery lunch meet. Bread made out of fleece, everything else made from wool felt.

2 apples, 2 pears, 2 oranges, 1 banana, 1 lime, and 1 lemon. All made from fleece except the stems, leaves, and banana peel which are made from wool felt.

Pizza that fits together like a puzzle. Peppers, pepperonis, and mushrooms are wool felt. The rest is made from fleece.

Turkey! Drumsticks are attached with velcro. I've got a wood dowel rod inside the bone of the leg for stability. All made of fleece.

EAT YOUR VEGGIES

I ran out of material to work on my daughters costume so I decided to make some more stuffed food. I can see why some people love just making felt food. It's kind of addicting. I keep thinking of other foods to make. I have been making two of everything. Till I did the corn. It took way to long and I got way to carried away. It turned out great but I don't have the energy to make another. This batch of food includes 2 tomatoes, 2 carrots, 2 eggplant, 2 potatoes, and one lonely corn.
